NGK’s origins

“We do this to serve our country, and not for our own profit”

The history of the NGK Group began with this resolve, articulated by Kazuchika Okura, the founding president.
Working from the reference point of a single piece of an American-made insulator, NGK developed insulators capable of withstanding high voltages to meet growing demand for electricity as daily life and industry developed.
